MEET OUR VOLUNTEERS
Bill
Bill is one of our most valued volunteers and has been with us for a number of years now.
Bill’s grandparents arrived in Carnarvon in 1902 and were lighthouse keepers from 1909-1921.
Bill has developed a huge knowledge of the Carnarvon Heritage Area as well as surrounding locations.
Visitors to the Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage are treated to some marvellous stories relating to the area and its activities.
Come and meet Bill when you can. It is a very fascinating experience.
Joan
Joan has been volunteering for many years to welcome people into the Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage.
Joan is well qualified to do this as she was born in the cottage and lived the first 9 years of her life there.
She has many interesting and fascinating stories about the cottage and her lifestyle. Invariably, those visitors who meet Joan on her days in the cottage find it hard to tear themselves away as her knowledge of the area keeps them wanting more.
Joan is one of our highly valued volunteers and contributes a great deal to the Carnarvon Heritage Area.
WHY NOT BECOME A VOLUNTEER?
WE NEED YOU
The Heritage Area museums are run totally by volunteers. We are always looking for additional people to join our happy little team of vollies! If you can spare a few hours a week to help welcome our visitors to one of the three locations we would welcome you with open vollie arms! Come and talk to us during opening hours about what you can do to help. With more volunteers we can extend our opening hours and give our existing vollies a bit of time off!
OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP
Donations are needed for both Jetty restoration and urgent maintenance of the Lighthouse Keepers’ cottage and other artefacts. Major sponsors are most welcome. PLEASE HELP. THIS IS OUR HISTORY AND HERITAGE
The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage is to be renamed PARKER-FREEMAN HOUSE after the families of both JOAN and BILL.
